LOVE & EVERYTHING Midnight Stranded at a standstill by the streetlight Wrestled it around and it just ain’t right And nowhere are our angels to be found Well it’s so deep, Been round 1000 times and still you can’t sleep You’re buzzing like a hive and it’s a big leap To anything that feels like solid ground It’s a big big wall but I’m gonna tear it down. It’s a big big wall and I’m gonna tear it down. It reminds me Of nights that I spent hiding in the bindweed Wondering if anyone would find me Lying there afraid to make a sound It’s a big big wall but I’m gonna tear it down. It’s a big big wall and I’m gonna tear it down. It’s only love it’s only love, you know it’s only love & everything It’s only love it’s only love, it’s only everything Well it’s hazy Are we difficult or blind or are we lazy Outsisde these walls the world is going crazy Press up against my heart and feel it pound Then time slows, Sound of distant footsteps through the window It’s our angels out there walking in their street clothes And they suddenly decide to come around It’s only love it’s only love, you know it’s only love & everything It’s only love it’s only love, it’s only everything

ANYBODY’S HEAVEN There’s things you know, things you wonder Things you try hard to believe There’s spells that you can fall right under Kisses that can set you free Now Daddy’s mad, he’s not talking Looks like I made Mama cry They see me now, they think I’Äôve fallen From my road up to the sky Won’t you tell St. Peter he can close those pearly gates Tell the angels I’m not coming in Cause I won’t go to anybody’s heaven Til I can see you one more time again I guess it’s just the way they tell it Streets of silver, roads of gold No one dies and no one suffers No one’s sick and no one’s old I got close and heard those bells there ringing Close and heard the trumpets play Then I heard you in the backseat singing And I’ve never heard that song that way So I traveled back from that place To hear your voice, see your face Now, 35 cents in a tollman’s hand 1000 miles of golden fields Will carry me to where you stand You’re so rocky baby, you’re so real Sun’s going down on a valley full of cotton Victoria singing about a little bit of love Guess I used to know but now I’ve forgotten What I was supposed to be so afraid of Won’t you tell St. Peter he can close those pearly gates Tell the angels I’m not coming in Cause I won’t go to anybody’s heaven Til I can see you one more time again and again

Sliptime 03:42
SLIPTIME Sunday in May In a little boat for two Drifting away On a river green and blue There’s a lot of rain behind this sunshine There’s a world of pain outside this sliptime Someday we may See the world we long to see Meanwhile you say We’ll be impossible and free Never really know what you been missing Until you take the time to shut up and listen Some say the way Is to sweat a pile of gold Nighttime and day Stop and count it when you’Äôre old Never really know how long we’re given So baby off we go, let’s do some living

EARLY EVERLASTING Speedwell, touch-me-not, Ain’t no flower like the one I got Loosestrife, wintergreen The finest kind I ever seen Lamb’s ears, lady’s thumb Look out honey cause here I come Sticktight, marigold Gonna love you til we’re good and old Shepherd’s purse and arrowroot and early everlasting too Mayflower, celandine A big wet ocean and a thin dry line Heal-all, bleeding heart We’re half a whole and all a part Purple clover, queen anne’s lace I never will forget your face Bittersweet and cocklebur We’ll never be the way we were Foxglove, leopard’s bane A little sun, a little rain Ghostpipe, silverbud The higher light, the daily mud Goldenseal and feverfew and early everlasting too Devil’s bit and meadow rue and early everlasting too

Strangers 02:48
STRANGERS Red red blood in a red red heart It beat so strong from the very start Sometimes it’s hard just to tell the two apart It’s a long long road, it’s a long long haul There’s no one who knows, there’s no one you can call Sometimes the path is faint, the rest of the time it’s not there at all Angels pass you on the street Faces cast down at their feet Blue blue bird in a blue blue sky And you feel so brave and you don’t know why But you fill your lungs up for one last try Strangers meet your on your way Faces open and awake It’s a quiet song for a quiet boy You came in here just to escape the noise Now all this silence flows like joy

Made of Time 03:40
MADE OF TIME Moon is made of honey baby, hills are made of wine House is made of open windows, air is made of chimes The sky is made of swallows, your breath is made of mine You and I are made of time All the dogs in the valley baby, I can hear them whine I can hear the want & waiting, right here where we’re lying Everybody’s such a hurry baby except you and I Baby we just made of time Come and look across the valley baby, where the sunset’s dying We can paint a little picture, keep it in our minds I can do the colors baby, you can do the lines Baby we just made of time Time to find the little pieces, bring them in Time to lose them all again Ocean’s made of raindrops baby, mountain’s made of sand Life is made of little footsteps, love is made by hand We got a such a lot to do but that’s all somewhere down the line You and I are made of time Baby we just made of time

about

Horses Swimming is a stripped-down collection of six original acoustic songs. Aside from a duet with Jeffrey Foucault (the botanically-themed “Early Everlasting”), all the music is performed by KD (and mostly self-recorded as well). No rockers here; these are ballads and love songs, dreamy, sometimes wistful, and sweet. Includes a piano version of “Anybody’s Heaven” as well as “Made of Time,” an outtake from the Shotgun Singer sessions.
